This week’s episode of Constantine marks the return of Ritchie Simpson, when some of Ritchie’s university students find themselves in another dimension with a homicidal scientist. Ritchie only appears a few times in the first dozen or so issues of Hellblazer, and the TV show version is turning out to be perhaps more interesting than the book character. We really enjoy Jeremy Davies’ portrayal of the tech-minded, pill-popping Ivy University professor with an apparent fondness for John Lydon (and Constantine’s own old punk band, Mucous Membrane). We also like it when Chas and Zed are elsewhere once in a while—John Constantine is not meant to have sidekicks. In the weekly one-line explanation of where missing members of the Constan-team are, we’re told that following the events of last week, Zed is on bed rest and Chas is off bonding with his family.

As we embark upon Episode 12 of the tenth season of Supernatural, there are still a lot of interesting stories to be explored. The scenes from previous Supernatural episodes at the start of “About a Boy” bring us back to the ongoing saga of the Mark of Cain and the mystery around Rowena. We’re still captivated by these stories each week. In “About a Boy,” Supernatural weaves together these story arcs, while being a very intriguing Monster-of-the-Week episode unto itself.

After seeing the previews for “There’s No Place Like Home,” we were pretty excited Charlie Bradbury would be returning to Supernatural. We love Felicia Day, who plays Charlie, and were eager to see what happened to Charlie after she went to Oz with Dorothy in “Slumber Party” (S09E04). Yet, our first glimpse of Charlie is of her torturing a man. Say it ain’t so, Charlie!

“Quid Pro Quo,” the tenth episode of Constantine, is loosely based on the events of the Hellblazer graphic novel All His Engines (2005) by Mike Carey and Leonardo Marco. It also finally tells the story of Chas and his healing powers.
A hooded figure stands on a Brooklyn rooftop, reciting a spell. Thick, swirling smoke appears around the figure’s hands and goes down into a chimney. In an apartment below, a little girl is in her bedroom playing with dolls at bedtime. The swirling smoke enters her room through the fireplace and surrounds the girl. Unless you live in a internet-free zone, you are probably familiar with the ‘web series’ format of storytelling. There are lots of great web series out there, but we have a special place in our hearts for supernatural web series, especially if they are funny. It’s such a great medium, we wanted to share some of the best supernatural web series we have seen of late. The proliferation of web series on the internet has brought amazing writers, actors, and filmmakers to the tiny screen to showcase their talents. Some get their start on the web, while others take to cyberspace later in their careers when they realize what a relevant and exciting platform it is. The web series approach is a great vehicle for comic series in particular. We love nothing more than a comedy series with a paranormal theme.
