Oh Teen Wolf, how we’ve missed you. We didn’t even realize how much until we watched the winter premiere, “The Last Chimera.” We had almost forgotten that Theo captured Lydia and resurrected a bunch of dead chimeras with the Dread Doctors’ creepy green potion. And Melissa McCall resuscitated her son Scott with her CPR skills. What we didn’t forget was how terrifying the Dread Doctors are.

0Monster of the Week: Hellhounds
18
Hellhounds are great infernal dogs that hunt the damned, guard the underworld and defend their demonic masters. There are tales of hellhounds in ancient Greek and Viking writings, and legends and even stories of sightings can now be found throughout the world. Hellhounds are often described as oversized black dogs with sharp teeth and glowing red eyes. Hellhounds transcend supernatural categories, alternately considered apparitions (the Black Dogs of Britain), creatures of Faerie (the hellhounds of the Wild Hunt) or demons (the Cajedo Negro of South America). Teen Wolf S05E10 Recap: Status Asthmaticus
9
In Teen Wolf’s midseason finale, “Status Asthamaticus,” we finally get some answers to our burning questions. Well, one of them, anyway. We learned the answer to the question, “What is Deputy Parrish?” Turns out, he’s a Hellhound. Now we just have to determine his nature. Though a Hellhound is a flaming hound that guards the supernatural, he’s still a dog at heart. So we’re pretty certain Parrish will be vindicated as a good boy. Oh, and we learned one other important thing in “Status Asthmaticus”—that Melissa McCall is all kinds of awesome.

0Teen Wolf: What is Deputy Parrish?
9It’s been three seasons since we met Deputy Jordan Parish on Teen Wolf, and we still don’t know what kind of supernatural creature he is. In an interview, Showrunner Jeff Davis promised that we would find out exactly what Parrish is within the first 10 episodes of Season 5. Though we have learned more about Parrish throughout Season 5, we’re anticipating a big reveal in Teen Wolf’s Season 5 mid-season finale, “Status Asthmaticus.”
Deputy Jordan Parrish (Ryan Kelley) first appeared in Teen Wolf in the Season 3 episode “Riddled.” In Season 3 it was hard to miss the handsome deputy who seemed to get caught up in the thick of things. Initially, Parrish appeared to be nothing more a sheriff’s deputy who remained remarkably in the dark about the supernatural forces in Beacon Hills. As Parrish began to appear on Teen Wolf more frequently we still learned very little about his background. In the episode “Insatiable,” Sheriff Stilinski asked him why he chose to come to Beacon Hills, to which Parrish responded: “Maybe I needed a change. I don’t really know. I guess … I kind of felt drawn here.”
Teen Wolf S05E09 Recap: Lies of Omission
3
Season 5 of Teen Wolf continues its horror movie theme with non-stop drama driving the story. In episode 9, “Lies of Omission,” things are going poorly for pretty much everyone: Scott’s leadership is waning, Theo has a disagreement with his Dread Doctor allies, Hayden and Corey are bleeding mercury, Malia feels powerless, Sheriff Stilinski is struggling with his case, Parrish still doesn’t know what the heck he is, and Stiles loses Scott’s trust. Even the Dread Doctors aren’t doing so great, with all their experiments continuing to fail. Despite the fact that Liam and Hayden survived in “Ouroboros,” no one is throwing a celebration party. “Lies of Omission” shows us that even though our pack knows the Dread Doctors are creating chimeras for some nefarious purpose, they can’t do anything about it. Having more information doesn’t always mean the truth has been uncovered.

0Teen Wolf S05E08 Recap: Ouroboros
3
With “Ouroboros,” we’re just starting to put together some of the pieces of Teen Wolf’s Season 5 mystery. It’s a slow process that leaves us scared and confused, like the chimera creations of the Dread Doctors. Dr. Deaton, who took off to find answers in “Condition Terminal,” seems to be having better luck than us in figuring out what’s going on, and somehow the Desert Wolf is bound to play a part. Scott is desperate to rescue his friends, well Liam anyways, giving Theo a chance to play the part of the hero and strengthen his connection to the pack. While everything is falling apart, Sheriff Stalinski has decided to play good cop, much to the annoyance of the other adults in the supernatural secret club. “Ouroboros” gives us little respite from the Teen Wolf death count, but the good news is that the people we actually care about, and Hayden, survive.
