Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles is more than a pretty face. He’s a skilled actor who can convey complex emotions, deliver dialogue with great humor, and scare the bejesus out of the viewer. Ackles’ portrayal of Dean Winchester on Supernatural has contributed to the program’s decade-long success.

The Season 11 premiere of Supernatural, “Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire,” picks up right where we left off in the Season 10 finale “Brother’s Keeper.” During Season 10 Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) negotiated a deal with Superwitch Rowena (Ruth Connell) to cast a spell releasing his brother Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) from the Mark of Cain, which resulted in the Darkness being unleashed. Before Rowena left, she made her feelings about her son clear by casting an attack-dog spell on Castiel (Misha Collins) so he would kill Mummy’s little darling Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Season 11 begins with the oncoming storm of the Darkness about to descend on Sam and Dean.

Jensen Ackles has crafted his role as Dean Winchester on the CW’s Supernatural into a compelling and relatable character. As well as acting in over 200 episodes during the long-running series, Ackles has been developing his skills as a director. Ackles will be directing his 5th episode of Supernatural in Season 11, titled “The Bad Seed.” Though this episode was shot first in order to give Ackles time for all the preparation that directing calls for, it will be the 3rd episode in the season.

Supernatural returns Wednesday, October 7 for Season 11. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) will be dealing with the consequences of unleashing the Darkness on the world. The good news is that they will be doing it together. Let’s see how long the Winchester brothers can go before they start keeping secrets from each other.

In Season 11 of Supernatural, Sam and Dean Winchester will face what may be the greatest foe of all time—the Darkness. Most of what we know about the Darkness came from Death before he was dispatched by Dean:
“Before there was light, before there was God and the archangels, there wasn’t nothing. There was the Darkness: a horribly destructive, amoral force that was beaten back by God and his archangels in a terrible war. God locked the Darkness away where it could do no harm, and he created a Mark that would serve as both lock and key, which he entrusted to his most valued Lieutenant, Lucifer. But the Mark began to assert its own will, revealed itself as a curse, and began to corrupt. Lucifer became jealous of Man. God banished Lucifer to Hell. Lucifer passed the Mark to Cain, who passed the Mark to you, the proverbial finger in the dike.”

0In the CW’s new trailer Season 11 Supernatural, “Out of the Darkness,” Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) are dealing with the consequences of removing the Mark of Cain. Now that the boys have unleashed the Darkness, they will reap what they have sown. Guilt is Sam and Dean’s favorite emotion, and they’ll have plenty of opportunity for it.

Hellhounds are great infernal dogs that hunt the damned, guard the underworld and defend their demonic masters. There are tales of hellhounds in ancient Greek and Viking writings, and legends and even stories of sightings can now be found throughout the world. Hellhounds are often described as oversized black dogs with sharp teeth and glowing red eyes. Hellhounds transcend supernatural categories, alternately considered apparitions (the Black Dogs of Britain), creatures of Faerie (the hellhounds of the Wild Hunt) or demons (the Cajedo Negro of South America).
