Season 13 of Supernatural has introduced interesting new characters while reviving some of our favorites. “Good Intentions” continues this fan service with the return of a beloved character, while focusing on the danger posed by the alternative universe Michael (Christian Keyes). Writer Meredith Glynn (“Regarding Dean,” “The Scorpion and the Frog”) and Director P.J. Pesce (“Family Feud“, “There’s Something About Mary“) touch on the gray in the black-and-white world of villains and heroes. Continue reading
In “Advanced Thanatology,” Supernatural gives us the heebie-jeebies with a tale of torture, death, and the dangers of adolescent peer pressure. It’s more than a monster hunt, with a couple of reunions to spice up the drama of Season 13. “Advanced Thanatology” reinforces what we all already knew in our hearts—the Winchesters are important to life, the multiverse, and everything. “Patience” focuses on the core themes we’ve seen in Supernatural for over a decade. The series may be labeled as science-fiction for award shows uncertain where to place it, but ultimately Supernatural is a family drama set against a backdrop of monsters, angels, and demons. Whether it’s the Winchesters reacting to a nephilim based on their own feelings of loss or a wraith attack revealing long-kept secrets, Supernatural is still about family. Continue reading
Not too long ago, Sam and Dean Winchester seemed to have it all. Mother Mary had returned from the dead, Castiel was living at the bunker, and they were teaming up with frenemies Crowley and Rowena with surprising regularity. And then it was all gone. In the Season 13 premiere of Supernatural, “Lost and Found,” the brothers find themselves alone once more. But there’s little time to grieve because Lucifer’s son Jack is walking the earth as a full-grown man.
As Supernatural heads into Season 13, we can’t help but wonder who might be gracing our screens alongside Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). Through 12 seasons, Supernatural has seen quite a few characters come and go. The variety keeps the show interesting, but there are those fan favorites that everyone can’t wait to see. Even when a character dies, Supernatural sometimes finds a way for them to return. Here’s what we do and what we don’t know about what characters will make an appearance in Season 13 of Supernatural. Supernatural fans at San Diego Comic-Con had a special treat this year. Not only did Misha Collins (Castiel) bring donuts to those waiting in line, but the panel opened with Kansas on stage playing “Carry on Wayward Son.” As panel hosts Richard Speight, Jr. (Gabriel) and Rob Benedict (Chuck) pointed out, it felt like a sign that Supernatural has really made it. Apparently, they weren’t the only ones excited to see the band because Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Misha Collins surprised fans when they stood in the back of Hall H to watch Kansas perform. You never know you might see in the crowd at San Diego Comic-Con, especially at a Supernatural panel. Continue reading
