“Patience” focuses on the core themes we’ve seen in Supernatural for over a decade. The series may be labeled as science-fiction for award shows uncertain where to place it, but ultimately Supernatural is a family drama set against a backdrop of monsters, angels, and demons. Not too long ago, Sam and Dean Winchester seemed to have it all. Mother Mary had returned from the dead, Castiel was living at the bunker, and they were teaming up with frenemies Crowley and Rowena with surprising regularity. And then it was all gone. In the Season 13 premiere of Supernatural, “Lost and Found,” the brothers find themselves alone once more. But there’s little time to grieve because Lucifer’s son Jack is walking the earth as a full-grown man.
As Supernatural heads into Season 13, we can’t help but wonder who might be gracing our screens alongside Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). Supernatural fans will finally be getting a look at the spin-off they’ve been clamoring for. A backdoor pilot of Wayward Sisters will premiere as a Season13 episode of Supernatural. As showrunner Andrew Dabb told the audience at the Supernatural San Diego Comic-Con panel:
“We very much feel that we have some really, really strong female characters on the show—Jody Mills … Donna Hanscum, and Alex Jones. And we feel they would make an extremely exciting addition to the Supernatural universe.” Continue reading
