Supernatural S11E07 Recap: Plush

Kiler clown Sam Supernatural PlushIn “Plush,” Supernatural gives us a fun yet heartbreaking episode with a clown, a giant killer rabbit, a court jester mascot, and a threatening deer. It’s fun not only because it plays on Sam’s clown phobia, but because Briana Buckmaster returns as our favorite Minnesotan, Sheriff Donna Hanscum. We first met Donna in Season 9 when Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) were investigating a pishtaco. Then she returned for the Season 10 episode “Hibbing 911.” After the serious, plot-advancing story in “Our Little World,” did Supernatural do well to give us a costume drama set in the land of 10,000 lakes? You betcha!

Dean Len Supernatural Thin LIzzie“Thin Lizzie” gives viewers a Supernatural Monster of the Week episode with an unexpected twist, reminding us that “The Darkness is coming for us all.” It might even be standing in the bushes spying on you. With his fascination for serial killers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) can’t resist investigating a couple axed to death while staying at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast Museum. Dean (Jensen Ackles), on the other hand, isn’t thrilled to stay in a flowery room that smells like lavender toilet water. It turns out that Sam isn’t the only one with a “freaky fetish” for Lizzie Borden, because Amara also can’t resist visiting the home of this famous axe murderer. Who knew Sam and Amara had so much in common.

Supernatural S11E04 Recap: Baby

RoadHouse Supernatural BabyWith “Baby,”Supernatural gives us an Impala-centered episode that may be remembered as one of the show’s best. It’s certainly the most interesting episode since “Fan Fiction.” We learned long ago that the Impala is the Winchesters’ true home, but it was great to hear Sam actually say it. “Baby” had everything we love in Supernatural: family, cool monsters, divinity, and a cleverly told story.
