10 of the Best Game of Thrones Inspired Videos

We were reminded how many fantastic Game of Thrones videos are out there after watching Game of Thrillers, a pairing of the riveting final scene in “Hardhome” set to Michael Jackson’s classic song Thriller. Jon Snow may know nothing, but some of those creating GoT-inspired videos are genius. Here are 10 of our Game of Thrones video favorites.

Coldplay’s Game of Thrones: The Musical

Game of Thrones the Musical Theon Ramsey duetThe band Coldplay got together with the cast of Game of Thrones to create Game of Thrones: The Musical. Well, sort of. For Red Nose Day, they created a parody video about the making of said musical in which Kit Harington (Jon Snow) sings “Wildling” to Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Iwan Rheon (Ramsey Bolton) and Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) perform a duet about torture, and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) sings a romantic ballad about incest. It’s an entertaining production, and remember, it’s not too late to donate to Red Nose Day. You can watch Game of Thrones: The Musical on YouTube.

Jaqen H’ghar

The comedic team at Practical Folks created this Jaqen H’ghar parody of the song “Peeno Noir” from the show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Who doesn’t love a little Jaqen H’ghar to start off the day? If you haven’t see the original “Peeno Noir” on Netflix you can watch it here.

Seth brings Jon Snow to a Dinner Party

If you haven’t seen the Late Show with Seth Meyers sketch about Jon Snow’s inability to make smalltalk at a dinner party, then you must be spending way too much time outside. We love Jon Snow for his heroic stoicism, and we love him even more after seeing the everyday challenges he faces when he’s not acting as Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

Game of Thrones, Season 4—VFX breakdown

Are you one of the viewers complaining about the special effects for Drogon in “The Dance of Dragons“? Well somebody call the wambulance! Face it, Game of Thrones has the best special effects on television. This amazing video shows us how empty landscapes are transformed into the amazing scenes in Season 4 of Game of Thrones through the Emmy award-winning work of Rodeo FX. You can see the amazing visual special effects (VFX) for Game of Thrones for all seasons at the Game of Thrones page of WikiFX.

Every On-screen Death in Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is known for its political intrigue, beautiful backdrops, and massive bloodshed. If you have a hard time keeping up with all the violence and killing, Digg has conveniently created a video tracking all the deaths over the first three seasons (over 5,000 if you can believe it, and we know you can). And because the folks at Digg know what you want even before you do, they have a death count for the other seasons available as well.

Rage of Thrones

This hilarious video by The Axis of Awesome will have special appeal to book readers. Rage of Thrones is clever and laugh-out-loud funny, but is definitely NSFW: “Waited six f* years for A Dance with Dragons and now you jump on the f* bandwagon.”

“Medieval Land Fun-time World” Extended Trailer—A Bad Lip Reading of Game of Thrones

Bad Lip Reading always gives us a fun way to interpret our favorite shows, films, videos, and sports. Game of Thrones certainly does have that Medieval Times feel to it, but with a lot more death and bloodshed. Terry/Tyrion remains our favorite character in both versions.

Westeros Five-O

Fighting crime in Westeros is no easy task. These Game of Thrones clips set to the theme of Hawaii Five-O remind us that Steve McGarrett isn’t the only one who struggles to keep law and order in a beautiful but dangerous land.

Game of Goats

The internet loves goats and so do we. There are many fantastic covers of the Game of Thrones theme music out there. Some that we love include a hauntingly beautiful violin “solo,”Western-style cover, and an amalgamation of themes by the Marching Band of Ohio State, but Marca Blanca‘s “Game of Goats” is definitely our favorite.

Honest Trailers—Game of Thrones

Screen Junkies lay out the truth about Game of Thrones for all to see in their Honest Trailer series. Just as Game of Thrones is NSFW, neither is this trailer.
