Doctor Who: David Tennant and Catherine Tate reunite for Tenth Doctor Audio Adventures

big_finish_who_tate_tennant_largeThe Doctor Who universe is vast and deep. Not only has the television series entertained generations of fans, but the world of Doctor Who includes novels, short stories, audio stories, comics, magazines, and stage plays. Now David Tennant and Catherine Tate are returning to the Whoniverse to reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and companion Donna Noble in a series of audio dramas. Brilliant!

The audio adventure series, titled Doctor Who—The Tenth Doctor Adventures, will include three full-cast audio dramas, each with their own unique plots. The series begins with Technophobia by Matt Fitton. This story is set in future London, as mankind gradually loses the ability to use everyday technology. The next audio tale, Time Reaver by Jenny Colgan, is set on the mechanical planet Calibris. It’s a world full of scoundrels, where a deadly black market has opened up in a device known as the Time Reaver. The third story is Death and the Queen by James Goss. In this adventure, Donna finds herself in a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams in the beautiful and mysterious land of Goritania. The series will be released in May 2016.

Donna Noble has always been our favorite companion—she and the Tenth Doctor have great chemistry together. Both actors have experience narrating audiobooks (we particularly enjoyed Catherine Tate’s work in The Forever Trap), but the Big Finish productions will be full-cast dramatizations. Big Finish released a video with Tennant and Tate, discussing why it is that they so enjoy working together.

  1. I have just recently got into Big Finish and I think it’s so cool that it’s evolving in a way such a this with these new audios, I just wish it was more easier to find in shops. Are you a big fan of these audios then?

  2. My favorite is Shada, which was written by Douglas Adams. I listen to more Doctor Who Audio that the Big Finish productions. So much to read/listen to, so little time.
